Axel Weber

Biography

Axel Weber is President of the Center for Financial Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt and Chairman of the Trilateral Commission Europe. He serves on the Group of Thirty and holds advisory roles with Visa Economic Empowerment Institute, Boston Consulting Group, Temasek Holdings, and CVC Capital Partners. He also chairs Raisin GmbH’s Advisory Board and advises various European payment providers and venture capital firms.

Weber was Chairman of UBS Group AG (2012-2022) and led the Deutsche Bundesbank (2004-2011). He has taught at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and University of Cologne. Weber holds a PhD in economics from the University of Siegen and honorary doctorates from Duisburg-Essen and Constance.
